What is Paint Correction?
Paint correction is the process of removing a micro-layer of clear coat from the surface, which in turn, removes light scratches and swirl marks. Paint correction not only makes your car’s finish look like new again, it can actually make it look better than when it was new.
Before starting a paint correction process, the finish of your vehicle must be thoroughly cleaned and free of any contaminants. This is achieved by first washing the vehicle and then “claying” with a clay bar. A clay bar is a malleable manufactured resin compound used to remove stubborn contaminants on a vehicle’s painted finish. The next step it to use different abrasive compounds to remove the imperfections in the paint. The final stage of correction is polishing, which gives your paint a mirror finish. After the final polishing, any remaining polish is removed by buffing with a microfiber cloth.
After paint correction, a professional-grade ceramic coating should be applied to the paint for the most durable and long lasting protection.
